Sucks when other people start to rule what you can or cannot own and work hard for.
I know exactly how you feel. I took a pretty major hit some years ago. And it took a long time to get over it. Sucks.

If you look up "Stolen seats causes total loss on #57" you will see what happened to me. I had the Viper installed and go to bed every night with cell phone, car keys and park right outside my living room window. I have been trying to sell my place but with the market at rock bottom no luck. Camera on the car is another thought.

*update*

so I heard from the insurance adjuster today and it came to a whopping $10,600! He was trying to get me into other parts but I told him Honda factory parts only or no go. He valued my car at $16,600 so it was only about 2k away from being a total loss because of the seats!

They're replacing the factory seats, middle console, seat belt locks, soft top, and plastic behind the seats (which got damaged). I was blown away at the cost. Guess I'll be down for a few weeks guys.

I will come back with a vengeance whether I sell it or keep it. This will not happen again. Wouldn't be a bad idea for some of you that may have not enough protection on your car, to now do so.

I've got the seat locks in mine. My thought process is this -- if someone slashes my top, they'll be pissed and slice up the seats, but at least I'll be able to drive the car. With no seats, that's tough to do.

Wow...to imagine that if it happened to my baby...it would be a total loss.

Let's see...'02 with 136k miles on the odometer...yep, I'd say anything over $7k would make her a total loss. That absolutely SUCKS!! I would be sooooo pissed if that ever happened.

I guess if you broke your costs out, you're looking at around:
  • New soft top replacement = $2,000
  • New seats = $8,000
  • Panels and assorted items = $600

Wow...just wow!

Or, you buy used seats and a new top for about $1250 and do the labor yourself.

Yeah, that is true... seat locks will be my next upgrade if I decide to keep it. Where can I get them from, or info on them?
