NCMA - grand re-opening this past weekend
For anyone who might not know, Raleigh re-opened its art museum last weekend, effectively double the size it used to be and with much more outdoor art. Its a great way to spend an afternoon or two - its big enough now to tackle in two days.
At any rate, here are some shots to give you an idea.
The general idea of the opening weekend - the place was packed.

Theres a photo cube now with NC photographs, and one obviously ridiculous pic. If you go, guess what it is.

Performing artists (in this case rock dancers and wall dancers) will probably not be there when you go!

The new building has some nice detailes up close, if it does look plain from afar.

The old restaurant was great, but the new one looks good too.

One of the nicest things about the new building is that it lets a lot of light in, and that works really well with some of the pieces.

O'Keefe is one of my fav artists...

I love this piece - its a huge two canvas oil that can be set together or apart.

New lights jazz up the old building, which will be fully open in a couple months.

The butterfly jet is still there, but most of the butterflies are "dead" now...

The old building will be 3D art, installation pics, etc - should be interesting.

Plus, the grounds are as expansive as ever, it will warrant a return trip just to be outside. The Cloud House is still there, really cool on a sunny day with clouds if you've never been in it yet.
