Default Need a riding mower.....

Does anyone have one they want to sell cheap (or give me )? I just bought a house on 1.25 acres and it's way too much to cut with a push mower. I can't afford a new one. Even a cheap new mower is $1000. I don't care how it looks as long as it works or only needs minor repairs.

I work for a company that is pretty well known for their outdoor products. We have a warehouse with plenty of overstock, various non-failure returns and factory pilots.. from Lowes, Home Depot and Sears not to mention our own brands.
Let me know what size you are looking for and I will ask around. The only catch is that you will have to drive down to pick it up. But is a small price to pay if you have a truck of trailer...

I appreciate that. Right now my main concern is price and not really size. Do you think something in the $200-$300 range is hopeless? I've tried craigslist. Haven't found much so far. I'm gonna keep looking though. I would love to find the deals my neighbor finds. He got a 2007 Troy-bilt riding mower for $5. The guy was gonna throw it away. Apparently, the head bolts loosened up, lost oil and seized up. He called the engine manufacturer and they said it was a known issue. They sent him a new short block for free.

That's the trick. Some people move and want to dump a good mower and sell it cheap. Most "needs engine work" mowers are carb problems usually from old lines and diaphragms, etc. I'm looking for one as well and come across great deal every few days on cl, I just don't have the cash this minute.

Unless you know alot about small engine repair and what to look for, that $5 deal is going to be just a dream for you. I am in the same boat as you, except i have 6 acres. I am toying round with just getting a decent low ender right now off CL for under $900 , then selling it next year for $200 less. That will give me the experience i need to get a rider that i really want. for more money.

from what i have been reading, you dont get alot for under $2k.
Even the good names are dropping quality for lower price points.

Resident Sicko, if you could get me a nice ZTR or a 50+" deck with hydro, i would be interested in making the trip.

I know a little about small engine repair. I could take a carb apart and clean it. Most are pretty simple engines.
