Default Need Struts installed

I'm needing to replace my two front struts, or at least I know I need to replace the driver side. Obviously, the guys at Hendrick said I need to do both at the same time, but is that necessarily true? An independent alignment shop said I could only replace the driver side and be fine with that.

Also, if I do need to replace both, would anyone be willing to help me out or maybe turn something into a tech day for others that need stuff done? Maybe do this around the Charlotte area. I assume I would need an alignment done after replacing the struts so I'm not even sure if this is possible to do in a driveway.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can do this in your driveway. First time I took mine apart it took me a few hours. Most will say this it shouldn't even take that long. I'm not in the charlotte area or I would help you out.

It will be ok to drive to a alignment shop. But definitely take it to someone you trust.

You should change both at the same time. That way you know that both struts operate identically. Also, it is likely you will have to replace the passenger side one soon.

Shocks and struts are two different parts that perform
similar functions on various suspension systems.

For strut suspensions, the spring is held by the strut
with the strut providing structural support for the
vehicle. Struts are most common on cars.

Shocks, on the other hand, are mounted directly to
the vehicle’s frame on one end and the lower suspension
on the other. Shocks provide no structural support
for the vehicle. Shocks are most common on trucks,
vans and SUVs.

S2000's have struts on all 4 corners.

They're fairly simple to change out. It took me maybe a hour and a half (from start to finish) to put my coilovers on, and that included having to adjust the height on them a couple of times to get it right.
