New Sound
I just got back from Tweeter and made an appointment on Wed. to have an Alpine MRPT130 50w x 2 amplifier and Boston Acoustic RC620 speaker set installed. I decided to leave in the factory radio/cd since I am only going for volume and budget control. I figured I could add a radio/cd upgrade later.
I am new to this stuff so let me know what you think.
Also should I install the tweeter on the upper door panel or on the dash?
The Amp is small and I debating on where to have it installed. My choices are: under the tool set in the trunk, somewhere near the spare, behind the pass. seat (this limits how far back it will go) or under the pass. seat (this limits moving the seat). Any suggestions?

It's good to pace yourself when it comes to car audio!
I really don't feel comfortable discussing what I have spent. . .
My wife would **KILL** me!
And folks spend 10x's that on their systems, I'm sure. However, I am very happy with the system I have in my S2000 now.
Here's what I had done first:
Installation of an Alpine 2 channel amp (mounted in the trunk)
Installation of Infinity Kappa Series speakers and tweeters (no new holes, used existing spots)
Here's what I had done recently and this is it!

Installation of an Alpine Headunit (top of the line but I have no clue what the model number is. . .
)
Installation of rear speakers. . .makes me do this--------->
The sound is sweet and since I don't like a whole lot of bass in my music, the sound is just pure bliss! Pinky owes me a mod that he'll install in April during the DragonBall Run. . .with that, I'll be able to use my side controls once again!
When I had my '00 S2000, the only thing I had done was a Kenwood Amp and the Infinity Kappa Series speakers and tweeters. . .that was absoultely awesome!!!

i bought replacement two way boston acoustics and im debating on buying components or just adding the crossovers and tweeter
can any one shed light on this if im wasting money on adding them or just better off buying a component set?

first off let me mention I had Tweeter on south Blvd do my install and it went great. Chad Winens is the installation manager for car stereo and video. I used this head unit: Alpine CD 7977. Raul I think you have the same unit, based on what I saw of pictures you posted. I used JL audio separates. The tweeters are custom installed in the windshield pillars. The woofers are in the stock door location. The tweeters are very hard to see unless you are looking for them. The amp is JL audio 4 channel 75 watts rms per channel. The speakers are biamped; ie a separate channel for each speaker. The doors are lined with dynamat to absorb any vibrations and to give strong low bass. The whole point of this installation was to get the best possible sound with the fewest number of speakers and no subwoofer. I might add the sub later but right now I don't feel I need it. Plus I value my trunk space. No way to put a sub in the trunk without taking up useful space.
This is a very Clean sounding setup. Lots of little details make it work. Plus the Alpine has multiple settings for crossover frequencies, etc. Probably seems like overkill until you hear it. The reason I chose not to use the factory head unit is twofold: first it has some kind of equalization built in that alters the output depending on the volume setting. I believe it attempts to compensate for lack of amplification by emphasizing certain frequencies. But it has questionable benefits. To tap into the preamp section of the unit to bypass this equalization would have cost at least $100 . I decided it wasn't cost effective. The second reason I chose not to use the factory unit is aesthetics: it's boring to look at. That's it.

I am pretty darn happy. The new speakers and amp make all the difference in the world. No distortion at high volumes and its a whole lot louder.
Not knowing anything about this stuff I highly recommend upgrading no matter what your knowledge level is.
