Not worthless at all. And here's something to give it even more value.

The HIDS are quite sophisticated pieces of electronics. They consist of a "brain" with complex electronic circuitry and an inverter that, if damaged, will cost a couple hundred clams to replace.

Be vewwy, vewwy careful adjusting those puppies.

Dont forget the 10,000 volts running though ..... I love that little sticker on the back that warns of serious injury or death

I am sure there would be enough wind resistance to prevent the element from rolling over in any direction. Ever seen a brick wall roll over?

Not worthless at all, I also wondered this with my orioginal lights and my new smoked lenses. Hello from Baltimore!
