If indeed Honda oil does contain additives for such a purpose, then it would make sense to leave it in until depleted -- or near depleted.

So to go the full 5K miles, one would need to have an oil change...adding more Honda oil?

I think I will follow the prescribed method contained herein, and simply wait until 5-10K miles have elapsed.
