Default Old time mechanics

Hey all, it's been forever since I have been here. Of course, family life made it impossible to keep my 01 S2000. Now I just bought a 1973 Volvo 1800ES. Anyone know a good Volvo mechanic here in the upstate? I had no luck finding one that can't do engine work without a computer hooking up to it. Any tips or leads greatly appreciated.

You'll have quite a time finding someone enthused about working on that oldie goldie my friend. When mechanics here volvo and 1970's in the same sentence, many fowl words quickly come to mind. Contrary to popular belief old cars are not easier to work on. Tuning a carburated motor has become somewhat of a dying art. My families shop (Fisher's Garage and Tire Center) does quite a bit of old car repair as we have several family members who've been in the business for 40+ years still working at the shop. I will forwarn you though, finding parts for a volvo of that age will be difficult, and you will be billed by the hour for the time involved. We'll be happy to take a look at it for you though. Call Steven (the office manager) at 288-0927 to make an appointment. We will be open for business again on Monday, Jan 7. We have 4 techs at the shop, myself being one, who have a good knowledge of carburated vehicles, we should be able to fix you up. If not it won't cost you anything for us to take a look.

My car is not carbureted. It has electronic fuel injection.

You may want to consider carbs unless you are trying to keep it a stock show car. My brother in law had a similar vintage Cosworth Vega with the Bosch EFI. It was a 2 liter 4, like your B20, and completely unlike the stock Chevy POS motor. It ran WAY better after we installed twin Webers (and got it sorted out). There is a P1800 parts specialist here in N. Charleston, so you shouldn't have too much problem that way.
