Painless Dent Removal (PDR) recommendation
This past week I had the pleasure (or misfortune) of doing business again with Dent Busters (http://www.dentbustersnc.com/), and I just had to make a topic publicly giving these guys props. The two guys who do the PDR work, Scott and Nick, do EXCELLENT work (even on aluminum panels).
Two weeks ago, I purchased a new hardtop from Hardtopguy. Had it installed, and looking good. Then, on Monday, I noticed them. Three dings, two the size of dimes, and the last smaller than the head on a push-pin (very unnoticable) on the rear passenger's corner of the top. This I couldn't stand for. I called up Dent Busters and spoke with Scott. Brought the car in this morning and magically the dents are gone. *I* CANNOT find any evidence of them. Scott enabled me to look at my hardtop again (and not the dents in it).
Nick performed similar wizardry. I had creases in my front fenders where it looked like someone had leaned on both and put a decent indentation (not in a flat surface mind you, in the flared portion of the fender). Both he took out, and I cannot find them.
I will end this grotesque complimentary post by saying I'm uber anal-retentive about my black car. I'm saying detailing under halogens in a dark garage, and details lasting for a week or more (yes, I am seeking therapy). If you want to start looking at your car again, and not the dings that are in it, call these guys up.

Did you use their location on Westgate Rd? I used to work with Nick there for a couple years as the Service Manager for Westgate Imports. Nick is a great guy and an artist. He pulled a dent from my rocker and it is amazing.
+1 on the recommendation!!

I used the location in the Cary autopark (the Leith VW dealership), as it's closer to where I live.
What I really like is that they operate out of a separate bay in the VW garage, and are not "mobile". It would seem to me that it's much easier to keep an assortment of tools and lighting equipment to identify and remove smaller dents.

Hmm did they do all this without having to respray the sections?? Was it decent priced?
Prices vary. Most are per panel worked on.
Kevin
Pricing is $100 for the first panel, $50 for subsequent panels.
I've tried out one other dent removal service at Kenny Hawkins Automotive. They are average (at best) in skill and at the same price range. They only said they'd "do their best" to remove one of the dents in the fender. And it was still there after the process.
When I had Nick at Dent Busters inspect my car, he actually pointed out where the Kenny Hawkins' folks attempted to remove some dents in my rear fender and left "evidence" (of very faint bumps) that could be seen on a shiney black car. He was able to fix those bumps as well as the dents on the fenders.
Again, I just have to recommend Dent Busters' services because if you're considering getting this service done, it only makes sense to pay for it once (and not twice like I did). And if you've got a dent that just pains you every time you look at your car (like the one in my NEW hardtop), they have the skills to make it disappear.

This is good information. I put a dent in my own car with the back door of a CRV. It is about 1 inch from the divers side door handle. I see it every time I get in the car. I would be willing do drive to get good work done.

We have talked about having a dent removal day here in Raleigh. JCoxRocks I think was just waiting for it to get warmer but it is in the works.
Stay tuned.
