For some time, I have been trying to mitigate the noises that permeate the cockpit in my S.

I have a wining final drive and a drone caused by the exaust pipe resting or in close proximity to the aftermarket rear stabilizer.

Any suggestions as to what sound deadening material I could use to quiet it down?

Dynamat is FANTASTIC. Can be a little pricey but completely worth every penny. Absolutely does the job. I've seen entire trunks lined with Dynamat in order to muffle rattle from subwoofers.

If you wanna try to save a few bucks you could go to a junk yard and see if any totaled cars have any in their trunks. I've seen Dynamat pulled off and reused before. The adhesive is pretty good.

Does your new exhaust hanger bolt on? My TiC would rattle like crazy until I clocked the hanger higher. As far as the final drive I don't know.Mine is loud. I just pretend it's a blower.

Lee, remove the final drive for stock and just buy a supercharger kit. Then the whine will drown out the other noises!

Everyone's exhaust pipe is near their rear stabilizer bar. Where do you think exhaust pipes and rear stabilizer should be. I do see how that would make noise.

I vote for this one! Dynamat FTW! I'm getting ready to put some down in my Chevette to try to quiet down some road noise and keep the heat down.... that tranny puts off some serious heat in the summer time, and with no A/C (never had it).... its HOT!
