Premature tire wear
Ok everyone, since getting my car lowered (springs, Espelir ASDs) my car has been EATING rear tires. I have Falken Azenis RT615s and no Direzza StaR Specs, and have gotten less than 3000 miles out of each pair. My daily driving is not that aggressive, and the only thing I can attribute to is some sort of alignment.
HOWEVER, the wear is STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE. almost uniform across the entire contact patch.
Does it sound like I need an alignment? Or am I buying the wrong tires?

Check alignment, specifically toe in/out. And even if properly inflated, if the alignment isn't way out of wack, wear down the middle is over inflation. As long as you're not getting the tire to roll over onto the sidewall it's safe to drop the pressure some.

When I first bought mine, I inflated the rear tires to 35, rather than 32. This really wore through the centers quickly. I have since gone back down to 32, and all is well.
I also suggest having your alignment checked, especially if you didn't do so after installing the lowering springs. Alignment issues can really shred a set of tires. And, a proper alignment can really transform the handling of a car.

^True but the toe in is the real tire killer. A lot of guys run 2-3 degrees camber in the rear and still get decent tire wear. Even if they get a little premature wear it would be on the inner edge and not even wear across the tire.
The only thing about running a little extra toe in is it also gives you better rear grip, but if you run too much you get dead tires after 3K miles.

Thanks everyone. I need an alignment, but I need some better coilovers or at least a nice spring strut combo. The ASDs allow my tires to scrub the fenders something bad on bumps.

Just to give my 2 cents. I have Star specs sitting on my RE30s. Lowered on Espilir ASD springs. I have about 3K miles on them with probably 80% tread remaining. I had the alignment done right after the spring install. I think that would be your next step. Alignment is cheap compared to replacing tires like that. Go somewhere that can give you a printout of the alignment specs.
