questionable price for inline pro turbo install and tune
I've realized the inline pro stage 1 turbo kit is a pain in the ass but i can help feel i got shafted by the guy who worked on my car, i understand that fabricating and rearranging shit is time consuming but over 2k for an install and tune? i'm just interested in hearing what other people paid with a similar kit if anyone hasn't done it themselves (which at this point i wish i did)
uhhh pshhh where to start, intercooler (notching the subframe) had to cut out a piece of the frame to fit my turbo, uhhh i forget the rest but there was 1 or 2 more things, i also had a base tune so tuning shouldn't have taken but 3 hours at most
My labor rate is 60 per hour. So for 2k thats somewhere around 30 hours give or take. I don't know what his labor rate is but thats a little steep. I basically made everthing other than the manifold from scratch in my setup and it only took maybe 20 hours total. He probably had no previous experience with this kit or these cars maybe? I don't know. You should be able to install an inline kit in 8-10 hours max. As far as the tuning though that can be expensive. Its not uncommon to have a 5-750$ bill for a quality dyno tune. What you got charged is expensive, but not completely unreasonable. You should have a show quality install for that price though.
did that include anything else like installing any fuel system upgrades, any head studs, gaskets, ect? That doesn't really seem too expensive anyways. The exhaust on that kit would have to be fabricated to make it fit. When I did mine, the oil return bung was pretty crappy so we had to upgrade that too. you also should of had to get the oil filter relocation, which when I did mine, I could only get it from inline pro. That was pretty expensive from them.
My frame was bent in slightly to clear the turbo by 3/4" so under acceleration and deceleration my turbo wouldn't hit the frame. Who installed your inline pro kit?
