Default Quick 'Fix It' Ticket Question

Picked up a nice little ticket last night.
Was pulling out of the restaurant when one of our local boys in blue made the 12:30am+convertible+restaurant=Drunk assumption.
As I don't drink on the job.....well, maybe if it's a nice wine they didn't book me, but they did discover an out-of-date license plate. (DMV has always sent these out in the past, but not this time I guess & I had forgotten....plate was 33days past due)
Anyway, here's the question.
I have always heard that these types of tickets fall under the 'Fix-It' policy and they will usually dismiss your case if you show proof of a 'Fix'. I immediately ordered a new registration through the DMV website. Today though, a good friend tells me that the courts will no longer do a 'fix-it' with expired tags.
Does anybody know if this is true? Will I be wasting time by going to court or should I just send the fine in?
Thanks for any information.
Btw, be careful on South Blvd. I counted 19 cars between Tremont & 485 last night after the ticket. I think it must be quota time

Expired license plates are still a "fix it" ticket. Inspections are the ones that will KILL you now. Plates or expired drivers license you're good if you just fix it.

hehe....wish it was for something a little more serious though(or maybe I should be glad it's not). It's not like I was doing a drive-by or something....guess the car has lived up to it's reputation as a cop-magnet

The expired tags are no big deal. My wife drove the station wagon for 12 months with
expired tags (never got a renewal in the mail). Got pulled over after doing the groceries and
got the same ticket you did. Went to court, showed them the new tags and off we went.

The woman at the DMV explained that sometimes 'the computer' does not send the tags
and 'it even deletes you from the mail outs' so if you did not get the tags in the mail this
year you will not get them next year either. My wife had to go to the DMV every year
to get the tags until we sold the station wagon.
