Default A Scam Exposed

I have had 3 phone calls from a company that plays a recorded message about my credit card balance and that I am paying too much interest.
The call does not ID the company but the message implies that it is my bank.
They instruct you to press a number on your phone to connect you with another location.

DON'T DO IT.

This is a scam

Your caller ID will display area code 062.
Many people have been taken in by this and lost money as a result.
The problem is that there is no area code 062. I am on the do not call list but there is no way I can ID these crooks to report.

Beware. I don't want anyone taken in by this.

I've had a couple calls like this before. Some guy comes on the message and says in an urgent sounding voice that I need to call such and such number right away because of some credit card or debt thing. It scared the crap out of me the first time cause I thought I was in trouble for something. But like bat said, its just some company trying to rip you off.

Thanks, Bat . . . that's why your credit card company always says to ignore these calls, but if you have a concern, dial the toll-free number on the back of your card.

I have received calls of this nature, on my cell phone (the only phone I have). They say basically the same thing. They have checked records that indicate to them I have a credit card debt of 5K+, and they are going to help me get out of it. Thing is I dont have any credit cards.

I ran into a scam the other day in the parking lot. I had taken my wife and son to store the other day to pick up a few items. We came out and got in the car. A guy drives up and says his wife has left their debit card on at home and they need a couple of gallons of gas. I have to tell you I didnt believe him because he seemed too slick about it and I felt no sincerety. In case he was in legimate need, I told him I would go over the gast station in the parking lot and go in side and prepay for a few gallons on my credit card so he would have enough gas to get home. He refused and took off. I checked the tags and it was for Forsyth County that I lived in. I find it hard to believe that he didnt have friends or family in the area he could call if out of gas.

I know times are tough but it pisses me off when people try to BS their wa into money. I offered to get him gas which is what he said he needed.
