Default Speeding ticket in Gastonia, NC

I was going to York, SC from Charrlotte, NC for a funeral when I got pulled over by trooper or state patrol. 87 over 60 mph!! I have to appear in court he said, but if I hire a lawyer then I would not have to be present. What could be done here to get the least amount of ass whipping from Gastonia!!? More like what would be cheaper to do? Hire a lawyer or just go and pay it myself? What legal actions could I be facing if plead guilty? I am not a resident of either state. I am a traveler from ATL. My court date is the 10 of December.

87 over 60? As in 147mph? I imagine you meant 87MPH in a 60MPH.

If this is the first ticket you have received in NC you could claim improper equipment and lose the points but pay the fine. You will have to go to a driving school if you are under 25 though. The school is a Saturday.

get a lawyer dude...I just got popped for 68 in a 45 and getting an attorney seems to have been the best choice. Court date is 12/2 though, so I'll let you know how it works out. I handled everything over the phone and apparently I don't have to be in court either. I can't recommend one near Gastonia for you though. Someone in Charlotte should be able to handle that though.

lawyer up.
the system is made by and for lawyers.

you will pay $200-400, but have a much reduced judgement that results in a lower long term cost.

Hmmm... I've been getting all of these attorney letters and fee cost. I don't want to do a driving class though I'm over 25. $280 doesn't sound bad at all.. I read somewhere online that this is just a revenue for the state, county, and city. That's the only part of I85 that's 60mph!!!! BEWARE of Gastonia exits till your safe past them!! Funny thing is I was doing 90mph considering I had a burial to go to, slowed down for the cars infront and when the slow cars switched lanes BAM! He was racing down the road no lights.. Right behind me and the cars infront of me sped away doing like 75-80mph!! That spa yellow must have had him dazed!! I've been stopped by cops and commented on the car and Also stared at!
