Stupid Ice Storm....
I am still without power as of today (Monday)
Funny thing is I live right at 440/US1/64/Jones Franklin and everyone around me has had power since Friday night. My apt is probably around 43 degrees or so. I am at my wits end with this, but they are telling me my power should be restored this evening around 11:00 pm. Not holding my breath.

My parents live in Durham across from South Square and they didn't have power for 4 days - the temperature in their house was 46 degrees
but they do have a natural gas fireplace
Power was restored yesterday (Sunday) at 5:30pm, thankfully.
Unfortunately, a 6 inch tree fell on my mom's Mazda Protege and dented the roof, as well as smash the rear window

We lost power for close to 12 hours on Thursday. The power was restored about 5:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon so we didn't have too much problem. We spent most of the day helping our neighbors clean up and removing the tree from our living room roof.
Lucky the tree snapped half way up and we only had 3 holes from the limbs puncturing the roof. I was outside at about 6:30 a.m. after the tree fell. Pretty unnerving hearing trees snap and crash to the ground every few seconds and seeing the sky light up with transformers exploding.

I just drove the distance on I-40 from Wilmington to Winston-Salem on Saturday. I was coming from Myrtle Beach where we just had rain, no ice. I couldn't believe the damage to the pine trees on both sides of I-40 between Wilmington and Raleigh. It was amazing. I guess the snow we get up here isn't so bad after all. Hang in there.
I'm with you there. I just got power back this morning in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte. It's a good thing I spend all of my money on my car, rather than food...less to clean out of the fridge that way.
