wish you guys would have said something as the SM region has a dragon run scheduled for the following weekend. It would have been nice to get both groups together....

Anyway, have fun and be careful. Lots of cops around the Dragon now-a-days.

Well, we (Anna and I) just got back about an hour ago...what a GREAT time!! Sure, lots of cops...but we made sure to do EARLY runs and late runs!

On Friday, Anna counted 13 cops...about 11 of them were TN troopers and 2 were Blount Co. Sherrif cars. We ventured onto other roads during the day and made sure to hit the Dragon after 6pm...it was "cop-free" and much cooler too...

Well, I'm off to order new tires...

Special thanks to...

I rolled in a couple of minutes ago, and just finished unloading the car.

I had to hit the Rest Area, short of Winston-Salem...to WAKE UP...my head was starting to feel numb...a sure sign of eyelids wanting to close.

Thanks to everyone for making this another outstanding McDragon !

Ron & Sheila...thanks for organizing the non-organized-non-event . Good luck with BOTH cars!!!

I will go through the pics and try to get some posted...at least by tomorrow evening .

Sheila and I rolled in about 30 minutes ago.

We would have been here sooner but we stopped by the new Trader Joe's to look around and get some 3 Buck Chuck. Cool place.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made this yet another great McDragon. It was fun to see everyone, see some new roads in NC (NOT TN!), spend money in NC (NOT TN!) and still get some clean runs on the Dragon during its new hours of operation.

Brunokid, hope everything is ok and sorry we missed each other.

W1ngman, are you a good lumberjack? Hated missing making some runs with you.

Sheadlee, thank you for letting Sheila and me continue our tradition of getting a great Dragon run, "just the two of us." Oh, and do you have _every_ episode of "Family Guy?" Too funny. Wait, you'd better run out and check your car. I think your alarm is going off! (Ron in Meerkat mode)

Dead_bird, you've got to bring your trailer back sometime. I hate I missed it. Sheila says it really is one from the 50's. Do you get another Vintage sticker for that?

Radred, Sakit, 'OtherHalf, JAHumphrey, great to see you guys. Let us know you got home safely.

Airgate, I'd say something to you but your radio's not on.

No one hated it more than I did Ron, believe me . As for being a lumberjack ...yes, I think that the 'practice-makes-perfect' motto qualifies me for lumberjack status .

Further count through our property has our current tally at 12 trees down. Many of the trees were snapped in half approx. 20 feet in the air. Unbelievable. About 5 were pushed over at the root ball. Saddest was one of two 'entrance' trees at the beginning of our driveway. Shattered that thing like someone had strapped dynamite to it. And it was so large in girth that I could hug one side...and Taska the other side...and we'd still likely not have touched hands. Now gone .

On the upside, I suppose, I can say Taska now has a number of 'natural' jumps. After we cut up the limbs and such, a few of the larger trees I kept in 8-10 ft lengths. Then we used our tractor/boom to place them here and there on our property...so she can jump them.

All that said...I was still thrilled to have had my Thursday evening & Friday morning with everyone! . Raul & Anna...thank you again for inviting me to stay with you. Beautiful home & neighborhood! (and small trees! ).

Sounds like everyone had a great time! Glad to hear it!!!

Dave,

I really missed getting to see you...on this trip !

It's good to hear that the damage was limited to the trees...which can be replaced...and in another 40 years...will be great trees, again !

Hi all, I was up last weekend at Deal's Gap with the Lexus group and spoke to Sheila about posting some pics I took. Unfortunately when I shot you guys it was pretty shady and my DSLR settings were screwy. Only one picture came out usable and it's pretty 'artsy' - appears to be Airgate (you can read the decal in the full size image).

More pictures from our weekend here.. Our Dragon group (this is our sixth annual) has morphed over the years as folks have changed cars, but still keep coming in new rides. This year we had as many 'other brands' with us as Lexus:

Porsche 911 (996 GT3 and 996 911 Carrera
BMW E46 M3
Lotus Elise
Honda S2000 (two)
Lexus IS 300 (two)
Lexus IS350 (two)
Lexus GS300
Lexus GS 430 (two)
Lexus LS430
Toyota Supra TT
Audi S4 Avant
Infiniti G35 (two)

Hopefully the TN police will become less tyranical so we can continue to have these meets each year. Good seeing you all up there!
