Dragon Fans!
The annual "officially unofficial non-event" known as (summer) McDragon is set for the weekend of August 17th & 18th. (Friday & Sat nights).

What's planned? Absolutely nothing; that's the whole point! It's just a chance to visit the beautiful mountain area, hang out with some of our favorite people and get in lots of Dragon runs.

What's the Dragon? Only the best stretch of road in the US; you'd think it was custom made for the S2000! Check here for more information

Where are we staying? Tapoco Lodge, a rustic mountain lodge that has room or cabin options. Best of all, it's ON the freakin' Dragon!

Standard lodge Rooms include a private bath and views of either the Lodge property or the Cheoah River. All rooms provide heat and air conditioning. Television and telephone are not included with your room. (Hence the "rustic"!) Guests have full use of the Lodge amenities including the recreation room (great central gathering place!), library, television room with Direct TV Sat. Outside activities include a swimming pool, lighted tennis court, shuffleboard court and horseshoes.

There's a restaurant onsite that serves dinner from 6:00-7:30 Friday & Sat nights. Beer and wine are available. If you plan to have dinner, you need to check in by 6:00 PM.

Everyone should just call and make your own reservations. Room rates are $95/night for "regular" lodge or cabin rooms. There are "economy" rooms that share a bath available for $65/night. There is currently good availability for rooms for that weekend.

Why this weekend? Because we can't wait until DBR, and it's one of the few weekends this summer with no other major events listed on www.tailofthedragon.com (Woohoo!)

Ron and I plan to leave Charlotte Friday AM, around 8:30ish; we'll post caravan details later.

I'm there! ... I'll plan to take 1/2 PTO Thursday and first drive into Charlotte, NC Thursday night...then leave with the Charlotte troop Friday morning .

I'd prefer to arrange to split a room with other(s). I'm planning to come for the driving & and socializing well into the evenings. I'll hit the pillow when I'm exhausted So anyone otherwise going solo...and wanting to split room costs gimmie a hollar!

I was wondering about Sheila's earlier reference to some rooms facing the river . Now it makes sense! We'll be staying down below Deals Gap. Where folks git askerd in the middle of the night
