Default Tire Usage

I've been noticing my rear tires burning up some serious tread (without burnouts, boot-leg turns, presicion driving...etc.). I heard several others talking about their tires being used up fast. Is anyone else having this problem?

I just put on my new HRE 542's and equiped them with Goodyear F1 GS-D2's. 8" in the front and 10" in the back. Talk about some road hugging....the only way to brake the rear loose is on ice! In light of that, I'm concerned about the rumor and if so, why? Anyone?

Don't know about the goodyear's but the SO2s have a notoriously short lifespan. Do a search and you'll find a ton of old topics on this. It's not uncommon to only get between 8K and 15K miles out of the rears. This is pretty true of any soft tire.

Great. These Goodyears cost a fortune. Good thing I don't driver her everyday. Hell, I don't drive her in the rain! Thanks for the reply.

I don't know about the Goodyear but my original S02 rear tires had me going much slower around the curves from about 8500 miles until I replaced them at 9500. I really should have replaced them at 9000.

I didn't venture with another brand because I still have the original S02 on the front and the fact that I wanted the same feel as the car originally had. If your Goodyears do grip the road better then I would expect less tire life than on the S02.
