I am not a big fan of dealerships as you never know who works on your car. I like to have experienced people who have done the operation(whatever it is) 100 times before. With that said anybody know anybody who they trust to do a valve adjustment and maybe replace some AP1 retainers, preferrable in the Charlotte area?

 

He's not in Charlotte, but I plan on taking mine to Japethewar soon for a valve adjustment and retainers/keeper upgrade. He's in Greenville/Spartanburg and seems to have a great knowledge of the F20 and F22.

 

DaGou and myself would be up for a "valve adjustment day" if we could find a place/person that has experience doing it, specifically on S2000's. He just needs the valve adjustment; I would go ahead and buy AP2 retainers and get them swapped in at the same time (since I have an AP1). I'm pretty good with a wrench myself (and DaGou isn't as bad as he lets on) so I know I certainly wouldn't mind helping. Just need the experienced person to do the actual adjusting and talk us through doing everything else right.

 

There is always RLZ in Concord...they know our motor, or wadzii in Raleigh. Wadzii is on here.

 

I'll add to this. Japethewar did a minor overhaul on my 2004 S2000 about this time last year, and a valve adjustment was one of the things I had done. Reasonable shop rates and the guy knows S2000s.

Honda Compact Car Service in Charlotte seemed very knowledgeable about S2000s and reasonable on labor rates when I had a PPI done on an S there a few years ago. I'm actually getting ready to do a valve adjustment and retainer/spring replacement myself.
