VIR Holiday Laps 2012!
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HILLSBOROUGH ROLL-OUT TIME HAS BEEN MOVED UP TO 7:00AM. THIS MEANS WE WILL BE MEETING UP WITH THE SECOND GROUP IN SEMORA AT 7:45-8:00AM.
ALSO, SINCE WE ARE GETTING CLOSER TO THE ACTUAL DATE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO JOIN THE CONVOY, OTHERWISE WE WILL NOT KNOW TO WAIT FOR YOU/LOOK OUT FOR YOU.
Hey guys, it's that time again. Holiday Laps 2012 is going to be on Friday, November 9. Last year we had a great convoy of S2000s and a few other cars leave from the Shell in Hillsborough, and I might suggest doing the same again if there is adequate interest. However, given the popularity of this event lately, it might be good to plan on leaving a bit earlier this time... tentatively that means leaving Hillsborough around 7:00a.
For those who have never been before, this is a paced event with no passing allowed. No helmets or roll bars will be required. Though they do not let you off the leash entirely, suffice it to say that you'll be going quick enough to thoroughly enjoy yourself.
Date/Time: Friday, November 9. Gate opens at 8:30a. Cars will be lining up starting 7-7:30a, fyi.
Cost: $25 cash or $25-equivalent toy donation per session. There may be up to 4 sessions per group.
Session: 20 mins VIR Full Course (from what I'm hearing)
Location: Alton, VA (VIR).
Convoy:
The double-meet-up seemed to work well for everyone last year, so we will try the same thing this year (but earlier!) unless someone sees reason to change.
Raleigh area meet-up for convoy to the track is in Hillsborough, NC at the Shell on Old NC86. The address is **Daniel Boone Shell Services Center - 381 South Churton Street - Hillsborough, NC 27278**. Last year we ended up parking at the Wendy's next door because it has more space. There is also a Waffle House adjacent to this Shell and a Hardee's across the street, so there are plenty of choices for breakfast. We will plan on LEAVING at 7:00-7:15 at the latest, so plan accordingly if you would like to sit down with folks for breakfast.
If you are farther North, we will plan to again have a second meet-up at the gas station in Semora, NC about 10mi South of the track. The address is **Intersection of NC 119N and NC 57 S / Semora Rd - Semora, NC 27343**. Meet time for Semora will be 7:45-8:00.
If you are posting to say you're attending, please let me know if you would like to join the convoy, at if so at which location.

I'm in.
I will be coming from Wake Forest, so not meeting up with you guys until we are there.
*****FYI, buy two tickets, or as many as they will let you, at the gate to ensure you will get at least two sessions on the track*****

Could be, but I'm not sure it's working. I googled it because I was curious that it hadn't been posted on here yet, and found posts from as early as August on MustangForums and RX8Club. There isn't anything on VIR's website about it, other than the fact that it's listed on the event calendar. I wouldn't mind a few less people, but word has a way of getting out.

They haven't sent me an email this year, I wonder if they are trying to keep it a little under the radar this time?
If they do it on the full course that will help as well, more cars on track at one time.

Also, I definitely agree with leaving earlier this time. Can't wait!
