Visiting Chapel Hill
For my locals in that area, i am going to one of the basketball games with my girlfriend this weekend. I wanted to take her to a nice local restaurant in the area. Not looking for one of the chains like olive garden, fridays, or any of those. I'm pretty open as to what kinda of food, but she doesn't like mexican or any spicy thai kinda restaurants. Can anyone help me out with a choice?
thanks,
Matt

There are lots of good restaurants, what are you in the mood for?
I'd start with Crook's Corner for good Southern Cuisine, or 411 West or Vespa for Italian. Elaine's is awesome if you don't mind dropping $100 on dinner and drinks.
They are all on West Franklin St.

So i pretty much want to stay around Franklin st. for bar and whatnot correct? I might want to take her to one of the Italian restaurants. That will most likely be my fall back. What kind of food does Elaine's server, steakhouse?
Elaine's changes its menu every three weeks, think French fusion. I just gave some ideas on Franklin St to start.... Top of the Hill is a tourist trap imo - the beer is not that good, but the food is decent.
At the high end, there's also Aurora, Il Palio, and Fearrington, about 15 min south of Chapel Hill. A Southern Season is a good choice, but I've never been since they moved locations. There's also Carolina Brewery and Pepper's Pizza on Franklin St.
There's some new places I've not been to since I moved away, but here's a web site on the West End.

In Carrboro there's Acme, Tyler's (good beer selections), and Akai Hana for sushi.
