Hi folks,
I live in Morganton on 181 20 miles south of the parkway. I recommend 181 then north on the parkway to Grandfather mountain. At Grandfather mountain pick up 221 into Blowing Rock. It is like a go kart track, perfect for the S. Turn around and do it the other way. Thats how I get my jollies. It is very much like the Dragon but closer.
Another good loop is south on the parkway to 226 down to Marion then 126 along the north side of Lake James.

PS Route 80 off of the parkway also is good.
