Default WTB: stock diff near Raleigh

I have a 4.77 diff in my car now and with the solid diff mounts i made the thing makes a retarded amount of noise.

I need to buy or even just borrow a stock diff.

I say borrow b/c with these diff mounts the stock stuff might make a ton of noise, and if that's the case i'll just stick w/the 4.77's..

If you want to help drop the diff out of my 01 then you can borrow it for a while. The engine just gave up on me last night at 3am so that car won't be needing it for a hot minute. Then I can con you into helping me through a rebuild haha

well you'll need to get ap1 input shafts or convert over to ap2 shafts. I dont know exactly. The diff does have a little whine, about the same as my 4.57 diff actually. I am not sure what an oem diff is worth, so throw me an offer if you need it.

If it is the diff making the noise there's no way i'd sell it. When i got the diff it was making noise, so i took it apart and rebuilt it at least 3/4 proper (it was about 1/4 proper when i got it). If its still noisy then the gear is just worn out.

the back lash was probably 80thou, the pinion nut was loose, the carrier bearing adjusters were loose, etc.

I put in a new crush sleeve, set the pinion preload properly and set the backlash to 0.035 and preloaded the carrier properly. I couldnt get any gear marking compound in time so i just let it roll as far as pinion depth. (thats why i say 3/4 proper)

4.77 gears and 4.57 gears are known to be noisy

4.56 and 4.57 are the noisy ones I believe, they are custom gears designed for the S built by Richmond I think.

the 4.77 is a standard production ring and pinion (from Mazda right?) used across many makes and models and should not be noisy at all.
