WTF of the night
So there I am driving down Long Point Rd. A car with HIDs drives by and flashes its brights at me. I was in the S so I flashed mine right back once thinking it might be a fellow S driver, someone thinking my brights are on, or a signal there is a cop up ahead. I was tired so I didn't even see what kind of car it was. Anyhoo at the very next intersection a cop pulls out in front of me so I figure mystery solved. Well the cop then passes the dude in front of him and goes on up the road. Well as soon as the road goes two lanes i have a pair of HIDs right up my ass. I'm like WTF. Evidently I had unwittingly accepted a street race (at least in these guys minds). Anyways they ride my ass all the way down Long Point and then I turn right on 17 and go slow hoping I was wrong and these guys would pass but nope. Anyways after they try to get me to go I just shake my head no. Not that it matters because I just flat don't street race but anyone fimilar with the low country knows that stretch of 17 is the most patrolled stretch of road around here. Not only was there a cop in front of us that I had no idea where he went to but I saw 2 more just on my way home (we're talking like about a mile here). I'm not sure if it was entrapment or just some really dumb kids, but wow.
There was a story on the news recently about how cops are using seized cars to try to bust street racers down here. Ya'lls guess is as good as mine on what happened tonight but it was weird.
Wacky stuff like that seems to happen every time I pull the S out of the garage. I don't know why people won't just let me enjoy my car instead of trying to race me all the damn time or acting tough and driving aggressive around me. It gets so damn frustrating. Seems like the only time I want to drive it is on dragon trips but lately my busy schedule has made me miss them all and I will be missing DBR08 because of a tournament that weekend.
I love Charleston but I honestly can't wait to move away from this damn place so I can enjoy my vehicles more. This place just blows as far as my favorite hobbies are concerned.

Wow...good for you on being aware and not taking the offer to street race.
It was sorta funny to read this because it reminded me of New Bern and how I couldn't enjoy cruising around in the S because every kid in town was trying to blow up their SRT-4 beside me...
It rarely happens here in Charlotte...but I'm sure the folks like that are running around somewhere.
I'm with you...just gimme the Dragon to enjoy my S2K! Sorry you'll miss DBR this year...there's always WTD in April!

I've personally never had anyone try to race me since I've gotten my car. Its wierd cause people would do it all the time in my saturn but not when I actually get a sporty car. I'm over the whole street racing phase of my life thank god so I wouldn't take them up anyways. I'm glad I don't live in Charlotte where they have those cops in turbo 350z's hangin around
I have stop light raced one time in my life. I was 17 so it was 97 and it was on Fairview going North in Charlotte. I was at the light at the intersection of Randolph in my 94 GS-R and this brand new Mustang GT pulls up next to me. I mean it still has the window sticker and everything. He revs his engine. I didn't street race back then either but the opportunity to make a dumbass in a brand new mustang penis extension look like a complete jerk was too good to pass up (i wasn't quite mature enough to turn this one down unfortunately). I mean this dude clearly thought he was something special in his brand new GT. Well I pulled to 60ish and ended up beating him by almost a full car length. I backed off and he just kept on going. Probably went straight back to the dealer to complain about getting smoked by a 3 year old Honda with a 1.8L 4 cyl.
This was a car that got all sorts of taunts on the street as well but nothing like I get with the S.
Street racing is dumb, not to mention dangerous and illegal. I have nothing to prove. I mean its not like the S is some super fast drag car. Besides that I don't even like drag racing. Meet me at a road course and we'll see who can turn the faster time. Now that would be a good time...

It must be something about Charleston and Summerville. People down here pull up to me and want to race all the time. Normally it's some old beat up muscle car.
This one time a guy in an old Camero pulled up next to me waiting to go through the light. We both had our tops down and he just starts hammering on the throttle. I looked over at him as I started to turn right and shook my head. I think that really made him mad. He dropped the clutch and took off through the light.
The light was still red (he must have thought that I was turning on green). He almost hit some car going through the intersection. No collision occurred so I just laughed. Sad thing, he probably wasn't even embarrassed by it.
Street racing......It's just not worth wrecking my baby.

Street racing......It's just not worth recking my baby.
