Default PLZ help Speeding ticket!

Hi guys,
I was at my friend's house last night when one of his roommate's friends decided to confront me due to my Iranian descent. He began verbally abusing me to the point of starting a fight. I, being the bigger man, decided to leave to avoid this unnecessary BS. I left the house and in about 1 min i noticed a car following me for every turn. I start to cross a bridge when the driver excessively tailgates me

I then pull to the right lane to let the idiot go but he gets behind me and starts getting closer like hes about to swipe my bumper. The guy that was talking shit to me was really shady so I thought it might be him. I got pretty scared and hit the gas, going 70 in a 45. After i left his ass, i get pulled over and the officer gave me the ticket.

This is not some stupid excuse to race or speed. I dont race and never will in my S2000. I was genuinely scared for the safety my S2000 and myself. Do I even have an arguement in traffic court? The officer didnt even give me a chance to talk. He thought I was drunk until I told him to breathalize me...

Does anyone have any advice for me? How should I plead? Trial by Written Declaration?

Thx for your time & help!

Uhm, why didn't you tell teh cop? If he thought you were drunk why didn't he test you? Why didn't you call the cops while you were being chased?

you could show up to court and explain your whole story, but i highly doubt it'll matter. you're probably just going to end up paying the ticket.

The only sensible follow up, albeit a bit of a pussy move, would be get a restraining order or something to that extent. It would further validate your story - but regardless, you had immediate contact with the law after/while being pursued.. I think you blew any chance you had there.

I didn't think the car was trouble until he got really close, I sped away in about 10 secs, then i got immediately pulled over as the ****er behind me turned left immediately.

The bridge wasnt visible to the cop, he got me right after the bridge so the cop coudlnt have seen him behind me until he saw me speeding.

In other words the roadraged driver saw I got pulled over and made the first left turn he could. I got ****ed

Any help would be appreciated I'm so scared about insurance now!

Man. Dumb luck!

You really have no case about the tailgating road rage driver since the cop didn't see him and you didn't call the cops before getting pulled over. I hate to say it but you are going to have a hard time getting out of the ticket, even if you get a lawyer.

I'm not sure what I would have done in your situation...I would not want some A-hole hitting my car either.

I had something similar happen to me a while back. Didn't get pulled over but having some A-hole following you...for all you know who is ready to kill you...is a scary situation to be in.

U should have explained it to the cop if that was the situation. And called 911 as soon as it happend. You really were still wrong to speed like that how about if there was someone walking in the road right past the bridge instead of a cop. Than u would be in alot more trouble than a speeding ticket. My advice pay it and learn from this experance. Next time don't react to a situation with a wrong move like speeding think before you act. Don't mean to sound mean at all. But there were better things to do in that situation like call 911 call the cops on the guy at the house that was giving you problems to you. He was being verbaly abusive he can be arrested for that. Best thing to do is man up to youre actions and learn from this. Or get a good lawyer to bring to court

Just call the court prior to your court date and find out if you can get deferred Adjudication and ask for defensive driving course. I dont belief that they will buy the excuse even though its true. You dont have anything to lose if you get a chance to speak with the Judge about the incident. May be he/she will have some sympaty for you. Good Luck!!
