Default Wtf... Not again...

Well... The noise that's been pissing me off so much hasn't gone away. It first occured after some spirited driving about 4 months ago and hasn't went away since. The oil hasn't been low on the car as far as I know of and I keep up with the maintenance. Here's what happened when I took it to Honda (Cale Yar.) a few weeks ago.

So I took the car to honda on the work one morning and they said that they didn't know what it was. They also said they would have had to take the head off to find it out and they would have charged me 675. ON the other hand though, it's kind of funny they told me that the three things it could be were the TCT, scored cylinder wall, or a rod bearing gone bad...

I think the motor would have been toasted already if it were any of those. I drove 3 months with that noise. No problems what-so-ever besides the noise, but I haven't driven the car in about 5 weeks. Can you guys give me some input? I'd really like to drive my care again, and I don't necessarily trust any of the mechanics down here either.

Here's the clip...

Thanks,
Blake

any chance it was over reved? Sounds more like valves than anything else. If you spun a rod bearing, you would likely not have made it through the past 4 months. PM SC_Highlander, from everything i've heard he knows his stuff, plus he is in your back yard.

I'd run through a valve clearance adjustment and replace the TCT. Doesn't sound like a worn bearing.

What kinda oil you using Blake? Had your valves adj. or at least had the clearances checked? Still sounds like a bad TCT to me...

I've been running M1 EP 10w30 since it started making the noise... I just had it diagnosed but it didn't really help me bc all he said was that the engine was falling apart? We're tearing down the engine next week to see whats wrong with it. I'm just confused because I don't even have 69,000 miles on it and yet there saying this?

Nope, no one else drives my car. I want to go ahead and pull it apart but right now I'm at work and the car is stuck in the shop until Monday.

I dont mean to scare you but last time I heard that it ended up being a rod. To determine this. Unplug a coil wire one at a time and for example if you have a rod nock on #2 then when you unplug #2's coil the nock should get quiter or quit. I cant really tell from the video if its bottom end or top end though. Good luck Blake
