YOUR NEW Honda Mechanic.
Hey guys....I was speaking to a friend of mine. He is a mechanic at Crown Honda in Charlotte. He works on S2000's alot and is the go-to guy when modified cars come in. He is trying to save up some money for a down payment on a house. I think we may have a win-win situation here.
He has every other Saturday off. Of which, he can work in the shop at Crown for no extra charge for a good 7+ hours. I propose this:
Every other Saturday, begining with 9/9, I can arrange a "tech day" with a REAL TECH. Honda certified mechanic. You will help him by getting him some extra money for working his day off and saving for his goal. He will offer you exceptional service and a HEARTY discount.
All maintenance items are HALF OFF. That's right....if a trans. flush costs you 80, he'll do it for 40. need new brakes put on and they cost 100? Now they cost 50. All fluids will be included in price, except differential fluid. Honda OE fluids. All other parts will be supplied by the owner of the car. He provides the tools and the know how.
No one else is allowed to work on their car in the bay. Insurance reasons. You may "fiddle" with your car in the parking lot, AWAY from customers shopping on saturdays, while waiting for service.
He changed my trans. fluid today. Said it was clean as hel, couldn't even see any dirt or crap in the fluid. He was surprised when I told him that fluid went just over 30K.
Anyways, start posting here with what services you need/want done and we can fill in some slots. Anyone attending Dragonball should take advantage of some new brakes/tires/fluids!! I will talk to him about his "working" saturdays leading up to the dragon dates, to see how flexible he can be.
Ok then!

Excellent plan and excellent timing! Sign me up for a Saturday before DragonBall. I would need:
- oil change
- brake fluid flush (I'd supply ATE SuperBlue)
- transmission fluid change (Honda OE just fine)
Thanks, Dre!!

While I don't need any service at the moment, I like the idea of personally knowing a qualified and recommended Honda tech, for the piece of mind about who's working on my car moreso than cost savings.
If there is a small group meeting for such a tech day, I might be inclined to show up just to meet him and some other S2000 owners (provided my schedule permits).
(p.s. I purchased my car at Crown in Charlotte. After my experiences with Columbia dealerships, I don't trust either even with my 8yo Civic. )
