Man that's a nice looking car. I know you're probably not looking for any trades but I thought i'd throw this out. I'm trying to trade my E36 M3 sedan (seats 5, big trunk=practical) for a s2k or something newer. If you're interested i can offer my car plus some cash for your evo.

Hey just curious what price you're getting on the TL? My mom is looking at the same car, auto, with navigation. An '05 for about 34,000 plus tax.
Also, curious if Acura would play ball at all for your Mitsu trade?

34+tax is too much, you can get them for around 34 out the door, and if you're good at negotiating 32-33 out the door. I think MSRP is around 32+2 for ttl+3 for navi so if you're paying 34+Tax you're just paying msrp. Acura will usually haggle with you especially end of year, she should try and get a new 04 she'll probably get a better deal and it's the same car.

Yeah, she had to push to get it at 34,000 plus tax, it's an '05 with navigation MSRP is 35,600 I believe, so she was happy with 1600 off, but invoice is 32,200 I beleive. The dealer says the color combo black/black with navigation will sell for sure, so he's not in a rush to discount more than that. Think he's just playin' and we should hold out?

You can probably get it for invoice or close to that, my dad bought his 01 cl-s brand new in 01 for 32,800 out the door with navi. The MSRP was 32000+2 for navi, 2 for ttl. We had to walk out and go back on 3 different ocassions before the sales guy finally folded and sold us the car for what we wanted to pay. Just be persistent, you can probably get a little bit more off than what's being offered right now. I still think she should get a new 04, the discount will be better since it's the end of the year.
I agree that an '04 would have a better discount, but some of the auto experts say you lose a solid grand minimum each year of depreciation, regardless of miles, so an '05 may be the better route.
Regarding your dad's CL-S Did he/you notice many problems with low end torque or high end acceleration? I'd read something about that on the Acura/Lexus forms. Still, I think an amazing car.
Oh yeah, does your Mitsu feel as fast as it is!

Yeah but if you're saving almost 2 grand in the beginning then losing that year in depreciation won't kill you. I'd rather have an extra 2000 bucks in my pocket now then worrying about losing a grand down the road when you're trying to sell it. The condition and miles will probably play a factor into final resale value more than 1 year anyways since there is no difference between 04 and 05.
My dad's car doesn't really have a problem with torque, it is a bit lacking for a 3200 pound car but it'd still feel like a torque beast compared to the s2k. It has very good topend acceleration, the type S has integra type R type vtec kick in and it pulls pretty hard all the way to redline. Overall it's not insanely fast (low to mid 14's @ 98ish mph for auto). The motor definetely has good potential though, the 6spd's with a few boltons are deep into the 13's @ 103-105 mph. Headers alone add 20-25 whp plus intake/exhaust etc.
It doesn't feel as fast as my car but it's also a bit smoother, and i don't drive a mitsu although i wouldn't mind an evo I drive a BMW M3 with a 3.2L inline 6 that puts out decent torque but i'm thinking about getting a s2k.
