it would because you wouldn't need to run the Japanese flavour of windows on the laptop. WiFi should allow you to hookup regardless of the langauge of your os, since it's just a handshake standard. You would not be routing through your network. You'd be skipping it entirely.

assuming you have a wifi connection near you AND you can gain access to it.....
