Killed a fly and actually felt bad about it. (You see, my cat had been chasing it all day and ... nevermind, you'll still say I'm whipped.)

Yes, I'm hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. Fortuanately, I have other options and if (heaven forbid) I should be unemployed when I leave the Navy in 6 months, I will be debt free and with my investments and savings, access to a pretty healthy pool of money to dip into if need be. I just don't want to be out of work.

Are you speaking from experience nakdboarder?

Rejection is pretty common any time you interview. I got a bunch of FOADs (form letters saying "you're not what they're looking for at this time") after college; I knew guys who had 30 or 40 of them on their dorm doors. Didn't say much for their interviewing abilities, but in a competitive job market, not everyone gets an offer.

I just can't wait to find out so I can either continue the process or move on. The waiting sucks. I should know within 1 to 2 weeks.

Of course, even if I pass the interview stage, I still may not have a job. I will be placed on an eligibility roster and be contacted 2 months before hiring begins. But even before that, I still need to pass a polygraph, medical screening and a background investigation.
