Out of curiousity, why are you getting out of the navy and going into the WSP? Seems like the Navy would be a better career at this juncture?

I've always wanted to be a cop since I was a little kid. The Navy has been very rewarding, but if I should choose to stay in, I will have to spend the next 4 years and remainder of my 20's as part of another submarine crew. I don't want to go under water for weeks on end, work 13-14 hours a day seven days a week and breathe recycled air again. I could wait until I retire out of the Navy before becoming a cop, but I want to do it while I'm still young enough to chase em' down. But I do intend on being an active reservist so I can keep some of the benefits.

You could always come back to the bay area.
