Tomorrow at 8:46am, a moment of silence will happen that will reflect the first plane hitting the World Trade Center.

If it's not too much to ask, I'd like every :corner" to pause for a moment and say a prayer, even if you are not religious, just take a moment.

I will never forget the day I found out. I was about a week away from completing six months at sea. My submarine came to periscope depth to copy message traffic. I was operating the "ESM" system which is located in the radio room ( ESM is a system that uses radio receivers to measure radar signals in the area, and based of the radars frequency, pulse width, pulse repetition frequency, scan type/duration etc. the operator can determine what type of radar it is and if it is a threat. )
I remember looking over the ships navigator shoulder reading the message. I thought it was an exercise message at first, but it soon hit me that it wasn't. It was a sore ending to an otherwise successful deployment.

 

I was in NYC last weekend and went down to the World Trade Center HQ. I was amazed by the feeling around the area. Only in New York would there be people who were trying to make a living off of the 9/11 area. It is a day that no one will ever forget where they were or the events that happened with the heroes frlom 9/11/01
