^^^ i just found this out.. apparently merchants have to pay the CC company 2% of hte total sale when the customer uses a CC.. AND cash is sooooooooo much better because.. well.. mikey knows what i'm talking about

which is why i don't understand this scenario: my friend went to Saks Fifth Ave the other day to buy a pair of Dior running shoes.. my friends and i pay cash for almost everything. so anyhow.. the guy asks her if she'll be using visa mastercard or amex.. she says no, i'll be paying cash.. he says: "oh! well please come with me..." he takes her to a completely other room in the back so she can pay cash. he explained to her that it's rude to show cash in front of people.. and no one pays cash.. which explains why everytime i make a big purchase i get looked at funny when i pull out a wad of cash.. but i really don't understand it?? can someone please explain i've always thought cash was better??

I am going through this with my in-laws now.....on Friday we are supposed to go buy all our baby furniture..the stroller, car seat, and this killer nursing rocker Debs picked out (dont ask) ....well My gracious Mom, my Sister and her Parents were all nice enough to offer to buy us part of all of this ...I being a merchant and knowing what cash means to merchants was going to work a cash deal on the whole lot......Debs parents are insisting on using a business credit card or check for their end of the deal ....

The whole not showing cash in front of others thing is just convoluted ..I never heard that one before....we get so little cash anymore..Debit cards ruined the cash merchant everyone wants to charge $2-$3 sales on these silly cards....and we pay the same rates as credit cards
