Seeing as you're reluctant to work South Tacoma Way, then I'm inclined to say, "no."

8D,
I got a pair of Grado SR225i headphones this past weekend. Been using them on and off the past few days with a random 1/4-1/8" adapter I picked up from Radio Shack. The guy said I shouldn't lose any sound quality. Is this true? Since I don't have anything that allows 1/4" connections, I really cannot tell if the quality is unchanged.

Also, there is a slight tizzy/static noise when I listen to some songs. Is this because they are new? I've read these things need to break in, but I don't know what goes along with that.
Any input?
BTW I am mostly playing from my mac or ipod.

1. drivers that are not broken in
2. drivers that may be picking up the line noise and digital noise of the systems.
You will want to break the system in for about 100 hours. Just leave full-range (I use organ music) music on for about 3 days straight. . . in fact, over the weekend should be fine.
As far as outside noise and digital anomalies from the mp3 process, I'd reccommend acquiring a decent headphone amp and or pre/dac.
I heard this bad boy and thought it was great:

Are you simply in my life to depress me more than I already am...?

Since I'm not in your immediate area, I can't buy you a beer.
In lieu of that, I'm trying to furnish you with other depressants.
Interesting, so you want to do the break in procedure in one go? Should I crank the volume up or does it not matter how loud it is?
Thanks for the tips.
I'm sold

That, sir, was a good response.

You don't have to do this, but there again, your 'phones will be good-to-go within days, not months.

Despite Brunt's eagerness, you may want some Wiki-info:
