UnkieT,

I'm going to look at this one tomorrow and most likely put a deposit down.

What do you think?

He said he was going to hold on to it for me until I'm ready to purchase at the end of the month.

Includes Ultegra clipless pedals too. Needs a tune-up, so I offered him $800 (since tune-ups are about $50) he accepted.

I feel it's a nice bike for the price

Since you seem moderately bent on wrenching your own bike on a regular basis; knock yourself out.

Seriously though; decent find.

Thanks!

And actually, Fremont Schwinn is all of 2 blocks from me. He's a stand-up guy. Shitty bike selection but his repair/servicing has got tons of great reviews, and $30 for a basic and $50 for a full tune-up?! I don't think I'll need to be wrenching on my own

But I do want to wrench on my own, but hidden costs are keeping me from that for a while... $250 for stand, $100-ish for tools. Don't have that kinda coin right now

After I get shoes, shorts, helmet, and gloves, I'll be RTR for sub $1k

Good to hear about Fremont Schwinn. It used to be a den of despair.

Single leather brit seat? Or Chinese racing seat?

It's a Taiwanese-made saddle. Seeing as the bike was designed in Southern California, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it's made from the stretched skin of a former screenwriter.

It still kind of is... but the service side is holding up well.

When I get my bike, are we going for a ride?!
