More to what Brunt says. I believe some people have a predisposition to be happy. I, on the other hand, am a cranky SOB, and have a predisposition to be at best, content, but not giddy or gay.

I have been diagnosed as mildly depressed at certain points of my life, and have taken drugs as part of an overarching therapy program.

 

And you remain at least a couple steps more socially and emotionally well-adjusted than WSB...

 

Prescribed or self-prescribed?

I've never done the former but over relied on the latter a couple of decades ago. I've come to understand that most of the time when I'm depressed it's because I'm reacting to events i can't control.

I'm now down to medicating with ethanol in the evenings and avoiding FoxNews. Well that and the reaquired smoking habit.
