Check each app, and RTFM. . . twice.

RTFM... I don't think so...

Oh shit. . . sorry. . . in many cases, an MBA is JUST an MBA. . . what makes the difference is who you get juiced-in with while doing your internships.
. . . funny thing is, SJSU's school has some decent placement. Plus, if you leave school with two brain cells to rub together AND an MBA - you'll be just fine (regardless of where you go).
Now, for that Master's of Finance. . . ummm, yeah, be prepared to get your ass kicked BEFORE you're even accepted. If you're not reading the Economist AND several respected journals of Mathematics NOW, you're behind the curve.
. . . I barely have time for a main story in the Economist these days, let alone the whole thing. Man oh man though, it's good stuff.

What I am worried about is my degree holding me back. It's easier to prove yourself with a BS from a great university (SCU, Stanford, Berkeley) but not "AS" easy if you come from a state.
With that said, my friend (granted he's indian) landed an amazing job at Intuit RIGHT after graduating from SJSU in Finance.
Sooo... Yes on SCU/Berkeley for BS.. and then MBA is a little less choosy?

Go for the Master's in Finance if you can, and have the MBA as plan B (or adjunct to Plan A).

If you're staying in Silicon Valley, yes. Most hiring managers know what's involved with the programs at the local MBA programs.
