Yeah but I did get an idea

NOT everyone SHOWS up when they reserve a site and some may claim 2-3 nights and decide to vacate early, I'm gonna have my San Marcos right next to Carlsbad go inquire how they release such sites..... maybe you just luck out if you pull in when they've had a cancelation and you can nab it that day were close enough to do an impromptu head over

Don't use your impromptu head. It don't always work the best.
