Yes. Twice.

 

The first time was with vespajoy and I, and the service was an absolute s_itshow at the La Pizza & La Pasta cafe: badly timed the main before the appetizer, we ordered cocktails, and then they never came back for a second cocktail or wine service.

 

The second time was at Terra with co-workers (and some time later from my first visit), and the food, wine, and service were good for a slightly-upscale cafe/osteria.

 

The best thing though, is going to the deli counter, pastry counters, and grocery store.

Do you find service since the pandemic has taken a giant sh!t on itself? In my neck of the woods service has always been subpar but it’s even worse now. Yesterday I was out with the +1 and it was disappointing. Hostess said nothing to us and slapped our menus down on the table. No checking in during the meal and despite literally waving multiple times at multiple servers to get the bill we eventually had to leave the table to pay. I guess we just put up with it because our options are limited?

I do like the store part and if it was in my neighborhood I'm sure I'd pop in for that & the yeah Deli and take home stuff often, Luckily we have a GREAT Italian Deli here in Temecula so no driving to LA

 

I think a LOT of stuff has gone bye bye since the Pandemic sadly I wonder how long or IF it will return ???

 

The established places here were pretty good - if they couldn’t meet their service quality, they’d change their menus/table count/cashier’s scheme. . . Also, DoorDash saved a few places.

The places that took the biggest craptasms were places that already had notoriously high turnover; chain restaurants most notably.

As far as what you can do. . . My totally-free-and-worth-what-you-paid advice is to just keep going to the places with the better service, even if it’s higher-than-low-expectations.
