Do any of the latest supercomputers have 16 petabytes?
When we did the study i knew what a petabyte was but thought I'd better look up what comes next (exa as Jack says). We'll be using that prefix in discussions before long.

I don't think any computer would have 16PB of memory. The PBs i was talking about were storage and traffic. You'd have to have some honkin' sw to need 16PB of mem.

Exabyte me!

You need to justify that 65-bit address space some how.

So true. If it sells more hardware, I'm game.

The newest BlueGene/L supercomputer has 65536 nodes; each node has 2 processors and its own memory. Assuming a reasonable 2 gigs of memory per node, you're left with about 128 terrabytes of RAM. Still a ways from a petebyte.

Guess I should have used my calculator before I asked

I checked with some contacts... the NSA has a computer with 8 PB of RAM and are looking to upgrade. Reason, is fast access to a db.
