I believe warmer water temperatures have a lot to do with hurricanes.... I am not convinced that that means global warming is involved.

It has nothing (or at the most, very very little) to do with global warming. The oceans constantly cycle, and we happen to be in a warm period. A lot of the rapid growth in the gulf coast occured in a cold period when hurricanes couldn't easily form.
