Another year - another flood. No pics (yet).
The Maumee (river that flows out of Fort Wayne) crested at 20.9 feet (moderate flood 20'), versus last year's peak of 21.1 ft. The St Mary's (flows into FW from the South) peaked at 21 ft (moderate flood 20') versus 27 ft last year. The St Joe's (flows into FW from the North) peaked at 14' (flood 12') this year - wasn't flooded last time.
I've been ranting (not here) about the ridiculous number of new housing divisions being built here, even though there's no population growth. Just more empty domiciles in older parts of town. Well, most of those new divisions are north of town, where my new pad is at. Well, someone finally realized that there's another side affect to all the new divisions - they've eliminated a lot of drainage capacity. Even though we had more rain last year, there's less places for the water to soak, so it runs into the streams - which are flooding horribly. Of course, the county council is pretty much run by the home builders association, so there won't be any slow down in the number of new divisions.
