Well, if I can get the oil pressure to stop freaking me out (not sure if it's a bad sending unit or a bad oil pump) I might consider keeping it.

just got to a pull-a-part/junkyard, I'm sure they have both of those parts on the cheap

I'm just going to buy a new sending unit (~$100) and see if that solves the problem. I THINK the issue is mostly an inaccurate gauge rather than low oil pressure.
