I don't know much about UCLA or Cal, but I'm guessing your high school "resume" is massively overkill for those schools.

Based on what you've posted here and what you're doing with life, Yale is an attainable goal. Great grades, high level courses, years of dedication to music and sport, substantial community service - those are the things Ivy League schools look for.

Thanks, but I don't think my resume is massively overkill. I live in pretty much "Asian country" where everyone is so competitive. there was one girl with a 99.9% in honors english, and her father was asking the teacher how she can get to a 100%. I still have a long way to go if I want to achieve Yale for sure. UCLA and Cal are two of the some of the best public schools in the nation. I have never been all about grades, and it seems like that may be the one thing I'm lacking in. But I guess sometimes you don't need to have the best grades in your class to make something. My 8th grade english teacher set the minimum grade to try out for Honors as a solid A. I had a B, but she urged me to try out, wrote me a letter of recommendation, and I got in. Last year was a transition year I guess. My grades were probably the lowest I've ever had them. Wasn't a year I'd look back on and say damn, that was a good year. This year I vowed to change that and I'm .17 away

I don't know. I think you're selling yourself short - competitive asian country or not - if you don't think what you have is Yale material. A couple HS acqaintences went to Harvard on much less impressive backgrounds. I'm not sure if you're shooting for a full scholarship or something, but honestly, it's my view that you're on your way to getting into nearly any school you want.

But I also understand it's really easy for people to worry about these things in school. Bloody Asians... (I'm just kidding, one Asian to another )

George,

You're doing great, and I stand by my original post. Get your ass to NYC and I promise you will not regret it.

I don't know why your school is being such a pain in the ass about it, but if I were you I'd continue to discuss it with each of the players, but be firm and point out that this is an important opportunity for you.

That's me talking. Unless you go pro, there's little/no chance of you ever getting back there for this. If you go, George, I will make plans with my wife to come see you!
