My first (other) mtn. bike is a Performance Tangent! Bought it from the Performance shop in San Jose in 1993. Turned me on to the sport.

I've never spent much time with a CF mountain bike, but I was always concerned about the bottom side of the downtube and how it would handle the rocks and crap kicking off the front tire.

What's your experience been?

i just purchased the bike a couple of months ago.. but so far, going down the bumpy mountains, i've had no problems.. and i love the light weight of it..

Well, enjoy it. I can remember when Trek first came out with the Y bike frame style when I was in college. My buddy was a Trek dealer, so I took it out on the trails a few times and it certainly was fun.

If all you want to do is cruise around town, you can spend FAR less money and be just as happy, Plucky...

i've been trying to get out every weekend.. but unfortunately, that doesn't happen..

i had a trek a long time ago when i was younger, i think that's what influenced me to buy this one.. plus, i couldn't pass up the deal.. 600 on ebay..

some of us need the BLING factor you know

what kind of bike to cruise around town? there are a lot. I was thinking maybe even a cheap scooter would do.
