I am an atheist, and I agree with the lion's share of your post. But I wish you hadn't said that last part. I don't agree that religion is about weakness. Faith is a compelling part of human nature, and in its various forms is central to society as we know it. I don't think you should pity folks who express that faith, even if it happens to be in religion.

Personally, I believe in faith in other humans. Finding the right humans is the tricky part

I've always thought that all major religions are just highly evolved form of cults, and to an extent are cults.
Of course that isn't necessarily a bad thing, not all cults are bad.
I suppose you could say good cults endure the test of time and eventually gather a large enough following that people accept them as religions...
or something...

I'd say that's an accurate description of a religion. PL&S2K. The problem is that things like Nazi-ism (and other bad cults) come close to meeting this def'n too.

Here in the US, we grant full freedom of religion and speech. Kinda wish we had more restrictions on the latter sometimes
