The Corner family
I've noticed in the past few weeks a trend that is a bit peculiar and somewhat disturbing. The corner is made up of a bunch of people who, for the most part, didn't know each other until recently*. We got along because everyone was open and friendly and welcoming to new
s in training. I'll be the first to admit that the regular corner
s have taken a lot of flak recently from people outside the corner, but I've seen a lot of flak being fired in the direction of people who've wandered in here (or back in here as the case may be). IMO, it has to stop. Even though a number of us have become much closer friends, that friendship is based on mutual respect for our often vast differences, including our different reasons for even posting in the corner. If someone new wanders in here, they deserve the same warm welcome that was granted to us in the past. If that someone posts offensively or indecently, then by all means let them know about it. But if someone comes here, posts cordially and generally follows the rules as set forth by Josh (et al), there's no reason to slam them. For the most part, we're a big happy psuedo family; we should be welcoming new
s to make a bigger happier family.

Cliff notes for Wacky: Stop treating new/non-regular people in the corner like crap.

I try to welcome newbies to the Corner, but I will also freely admit that when people simply come in and post discordant smilies that have nothing to do with the context of where the thread is going then I tend to get frustrated.
That said, if anyone has a genuine question or wants to get to know us better I'll say what I always say...jump in and start treading water.
I will also admit that there have been several people recently that have come into the Corner and displayed no noticeable intention to get to know people or just randomly
and I have slapped some of those people.
Maybe I'm right...maybe I'm wrong...but I did what I thought was appropriate in each instance...
