Engine pics...
AHHHHhhh!
The thermostat housing didn't look right for the 2.3, but the opening at the base of the water pump looked like a dead match!
BTW, I don't know if it'll fit with the different bore/stroke.... but I have a cast-iron 2.3 ported head with a 5 angle valve-job in my parents' basement. The Erson cam is junk, but the rest of it should be in good condition. If you want it, it's yours for $50 plus shipping when I go home for Christmas....

The 2.3 was for the Mustang and T-bird, right? Like the 4cyl and the turbo SVO? If so, I'm pretty sure it won't fit. It's a totally different block.
Thanks though.

actually, the 2.3 goes back as far as the Pinto. The block hasn't changed much, but the induction/exhaust/ignition has changed plenty.
this head is a marine head, but is identical (other than modifications) to an automotive 2.3. In fact, the only difference between an automotive 2.3 and a marine 2.3 is the freeze plugs, cam and ignition. There was a 2.3 turbo in the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, the SVO Mustang and the Merkur XR4TI, but I think the block was a modified version from Ford's European Division.

No, the distributor was out of the base of the block, just behind the timing belt. It ran off of an auxillary drive shaft that also drove the oil pump and fule pump.
this was a late 80's early 90's model that had the intake and exhaust on opposite sides.

so the cam didn't drive anything on that engine?
either way, i seriously doubt it'll fit. our's is the flat-deck head and i'm pretty sure the 2.3 head had somewhat of a combustion chamber cut into them?
the bore is probably way off also. it's very tempting for $50, but i'll have to pass
