Yeah... I got a tix for 100MPH in a 55 (interstate) two weeks after I got my license. Had to re-take my drivers test for that one! The worst part was that even though I passed the driving portion, I failed the written!

Anyway, I'm 31, and just bought mine less than 6 mos ago. I bought it new, but it was a 2001 model, and they dropped the price before I even tried to haggle! I was ready to pay list, I mentioned that the parts manager was an old friend and they came back with $28,900. Needless to say, I signed before anyone could change their minds. I know what you're thinking, yes I did a history on the car, and it had never been titled. They got it from another dealer who ordered it for someone who eventually backed out. One way or another, I got it with 12.3 miles on the odo. But as you see in my sig, the 4runner is the wifes, the Bronco is my 206,000mile battle wagon, and the Yamaha was bought for $300 and is being restored this winter (Damn, its January and I haven't started it yet!).

Hang in there. Like Luke said, if you want it bad enough... it'll happen.

Oh, only one tix in the 'S' so far, but now I know where that cop hides!!!

I've decided that I'm not responsible enough to be driving an S2000 just yet...

At about 3am this morning, I was in an accident that could have been a lot worse if I had been driving an S2000. To make a long story short, I was too fast on a highway exit ramp, over steered, and hit the concrete barrier. The front end of my car is pretty med up, but it's mostly cosmetic, as far as I know everything is still functional.

There were no other cars around me, and no one was hurt. I'm usually a safe driver, but I guess last night I just had to let it loose a little (even though I was telling myself that I should be extra careful before, 'cos it's 9

Jeez, Jack... I'm really glad you weren't hurt. I hope the damage to your car is just cosmetic.

There's probably no one on this board who hasn't at one time in their life taken an exit ramp too hot and lost at least some control. The only difference among us is the end result. I once see-sawed a '79 Mustang back on track (decreasing radius exit ramp -- MA is famous for them) without plopping it in a ditch. Also, I didn't have a concrete barrier to contend with -- If I had, I probably would've done what you did.

It's really a bummer that everyone has to learn this lesson from experience.

So, now Jack, I think you are responsible enough to get an S2000 because you'll never do that again!!!!

Thanks for the kind words Charlie.

I just examined my car again in broad daylight. So far the damage seems mostly cosmetic. One exception is that I'm so far unable to open up my hood. Of course, being unable to open up my hood, I am also unable to check and see if anything else is wrong in the engine bay (my biggest worry being engine coolant problems).

I am very grateful however that things didn't go any worse than it did. It could have gone a lot worse. There could be some one behind me, someone stuck on the side of the road. I could have spun and gone all over the place.

As for responsibility, I'll give it some thought. I've decided to delay the purchase of the S2000 for a while to use my savings for downpayment on a condo instead, so that give me time to think. I know the general consensus is that the S2000 isn't the best car to learn to drive RWD in. I've always felt that I have willpower to control myself and not drive the S2000 beyond what I can handle, especially on public roads. After tonight, I realize it's one thing to tell yourself not to do something, and another to not yield to temptation when you're actually behind the wheels.
